The Ekiti Police Command has arrested no fewer than five suspected kidnappers inside a forest near Iju/Ikere boundary, hours after six schoolchildren and their teachers were abducted in the state.
These suspects were apprehended during a joint operation by the police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun, Oodua Peoples Congress (O.P.C), and local hunters in Oke-Osun, Ikere/Igbo-Okah area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Sunday Abutu, disclosed this on Tuesday through a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
Abutu said the suspects initially claimed to be herdsmen, but none of them had any cattle and no cattle were seen with them in the forest where they were caught.
He said the police recovered two motorcycles, one cutlass, one jack, one dagger, and four phones from the suspects.
