Lagos Govt. targets 1M residents engagement on gender-based violence prevention

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has commenced a Door-to-Door enlightenment campaigns on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence with a target to enlighten over one million residents on reporting mode.
It added that the move was to ensure that more Lagosians were enlightened on the available support services provided by the government through the agency.
The Executive Secretary, DSVA, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, while addressing schoolchildren, teachers, Muslim and Christian religious leaders as well as market women in Kosofe local government, disclosed that the campaign would be held for 3 months, enabling Lagosians the ability to speak up and also report cases of abuse in their various communities.
Vivour-Adeniyi stressed the need to re-orientate residents continually by emphasizing the importance of reporting through the toll-free line.

The DSVA boss called on all to support the efforts of the government by speaking up on Domestic and gender-based issues to eradicate the menace from society.
She emphasized that the Agency would be visiting various local government areas to propagate the SGBV message through the key relevance of reporting the cases as at when it occurs.
Vivour-Adeniyi noted that researches and perception surveys would be carried out during the 3 months of the engagement to ascertain lasting and enduring avenues to end the menace.
In the course of the engagement, Souvenirs and educational materials were distributed to residents in the State. Almost 5000 five thousand, residents were reached yesterday.
