JUST IN: Sanwo-Olu emerges South West Govs’ forum chairman

Following death of Ondo State former governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Southwest West Governors have elected Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Chairman of the Forum in the region.

Sanwo-Olu would be taking over from late Akeredolu who served as the South West Governors’ Forum chairman until his demise barely six month ago.

The Lagos State governor emerged as the forum’s governor on Monday during a closed-door election that took place at the State House in Ikeja.

Present at the meeting were Sanwo-Olu’s counterpart from Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun) and Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti).

Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hazmat, received his counterpart with the aim to chart new focus for the southwest zone.

The meeting by the South-West Governors Forum is expected to address issues affecting the zone and Nigeria as a whole.

The South-West Governors Forum is the umbrella body for all the six governors in the geo-political zone.
