Akwa Ibom Govt. approves 30M empowerment fund for MSMEs

The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved N30 million to support Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, and traders in the state, as part of measures to boost the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

It noted that the fund was approved to empowerment young entrepreneurs and assist existing business owners to boost their operations in the state.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for information, Aniekan Umanah, 178 farmers received N111 million in grants, 442 traders were supported with N176 million, while six MSMEs benefited from N30 million, and 198 craftsmen received equipment support.

To support transportation, Umanah noted that 77 mini-buses have been procured to support transportation businesses across the State.

It reads “His Excellency The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno PHD will host the Arise Entrepreneurial Equipment Support Scheme (AESS) on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Uyo Township Stadium, by 2:00 PM.

“The event will feature the presentation of special awards, including the Academic Excellence Award, Exceptional Girt Award, and Future Leaders Award.

“This event follows Governor Umo’s recent empowerment initiatives at the Abak Federal Constituency Town Hall Meeting on Saturday,March 8,2025, 178 farmers received N111 million in grants.

“442 traders were supported with N176 million, Six MSMEs benefited from N30 million, and 198 craftsmen were provided with equipment support.”
