The Lagos Police Command has recovered the body of an officer, inspector, Bishop Clement, in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of the state days after being declared missing by the wife.
As gathered, the body of the law enforcement officer was recovered by the Command around FESTAC axis of the state, ending one week of an intensive search for the deceased officer by the wife and his colleagues.
Before his body was recovered yesterday, Inspector Clement, identified with his service number AP/No. 352498, was last seen on April 23, 2025, after he left home for work but never returned. His sudden disappearance prompted concern and a formal report by his wife, leading to the circulation of a Police Wireless Message across Lagos State divisions and formations.
Sources said that the deceased officer’s remain was eventually discovered at Second Rainbow in Festac Town under yet-to-be-determined circumstances, sparking grief and questions among residents and colleagues.
According to an internal signal obtained by the Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration (COMPOL DFA), Ikeja, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Area ‘B’, Apapa, had issued an alert following the wife’s report.
The wireless message, referenced AB: 2680/LS/AP/VOL.1/146, stated that Mrs. Clement had informed the police that her husband had been unreachable since he departed for duty on April 23. All attempts to reach him via his mobile lines — 08062389359 and 08058981999 — were unsuccessful.
The signal further urged all divisions and formations to assist in tracing the inspector’s whereabouts and to report any findings to his assigned command.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear as investigations are ongoing.
Efforts to get the Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, on the issue proved abortive with messages sent to his whatsapp and directly to the mobile phone not returned.
