Lagos Govt. arrests 10 fake enforcement officials extorting motorists

The Lagos State Government has apprehended 10 individuals parading themselves as traffic law enforcement officials to extort motorists across the metropolis.

They were arrested by the state government around Cele/Itire axis, as part of measures by the state government to reed the metropolis off fake traffic law enforcement personnel.

Those apprehended were; Ojo Oluwaseun, Rafiu Agbabiaka, Babatunde Ibrahim, Abiodun Olusegun, Daniel Olanrewaju, Aweda Kabiru, Olufowobi Michael, Olamilekan Olasupo, Bunmi James and a female, Iyiola Shola.

They were arrested on Friday while engaging in their unauthorized enforcement with different fake Identity Cards which portray them before motorists as bonafide staff of the government.

Addressing newsmen after their arrest, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa, revealed that the arrest was made in response to complaints registered at the Ministry by concerned citizens.

Musa stressed that the suspects were not members of staff of the Ministry, adding that they would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

He also disclosed that the tow trucks, Identification cards and other equipment owned by these people have been confiscated by the State Government.

The Permanent Secretary urged members of the public to report illegality promptly to the Ministry of Transportation designated phone lines; 09020004000 and 09020009000.
