By Monsurudeen Olowoopejo

English football giant, West Ham, has engaged the services of Spanish football tactician, Julen Lopetegui, to serve as new manager of it’s team ahead of next year’s league.

Lopetegui will be taking over from David Moyes who was relieved of his duties by the club after the team’s inconsistent performance under his leadership.

The English club announced appointment of Lopetegui on Thursday through a short statement accompanied with the former Real Madrid tactician’s picture released on its official social media handle.

According to the statement, We are delighted to announce the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as the Club’s new men’s Head Coach.

“The former Spain, Porto, Real Madrid and Sevilla coach will officially begin work on July 1″.

It was learnt that the announcement was made barely two weeks after an agreement between both parties was sealed.

Sources said that both parties kept the contract as secret pending when the Spanish manager would be signing the contract agreement.

Speaking after signing his contract papers, Lopetegui said: “We had other opportunities… but I am very happy that West Ham chose me because I chose West Ham, so we came here with the idea and the thought to make a big, big noise”.
