President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Taiwo Oyedele as Nigeria’s new Minister of State for Finance, adding a key figure to the federal government’s economic management team.
Oyedele took the oath of office five days after he was confirmed by the Nigerian Senate following a detailed screening by lawmakers, who examined his plans for strengthening Nigeria’s public finance system.
The brief ceremony was held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Monday, where the president administered the oath of office in the presence of senior government officials.
A respected tax policy expert, Oyedele previously chaired the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, where he led efforts to design reforms aimed at improving Nigeria’s tax system and fiscal framework.
In his new role, he is expected to support ongoing fiscal and revenue reforms under the administration.
