JUST IN: Security chiefs meet Kano Gov., Sanusi, dethroned monarch inside palace

By Monsurudeen Olowoopejo

Top security Chiefs in Kano are currently meeting with State Governor, Abba Yusuf and Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi, amid royal tussle rocking the stool of emir in the state.

The meeting came hours after the security agencies met with the dethroned monarch, Aminu Ado Bayero, to discuss implications of the crisis on safety of the people.

These meetings were held separately by the security chief on Saturday amid the royal tussle which has sparked tension across the state.

Before the meeting, the dethroned monarch had vowed to fight on pending when the court would ruled that he vacate the seat.

Bayero, who was the 15th Emir of Kano, stressed that there is no one above the law, just as he appealed to residents to remain calm.

Speaking at the mini-palace where he is holding forth since his return to the state after his dethronement, he said justice would prevail.

The monarch vowed to accept whatever the law states, adding that Kano is an important state in Nigeria.

Speaking in Hausa, he said, “I call on the people to remain law-abiding while awaiting the outcome of the legal process in this tussle.

“We call on the authority to do justice in this matter. Kano is a very influential state in Nigeria. Whatever affects Kano affects Nigeria. May peace reign in Kano. We pray for Allah to bless Kano with responsible and just leaders. Justice is the way to go on every issue. There will be justice. Nobody is above the law. We will accept whatever the law says. I appreciate all the people who have shown concern.

“As I said, justice will take its course. We will keep on praying for peace in Kano State. May Allah the Almighty protect us.”
