JUST IN: Popular Nigerian gospel artiste dies after bagging award

Popular gospel musician, Aduke Ajayi, popularly called Aduke Gold, has been reported dead, days after being chosen as the best artiste among the Cherubim and Seraphim members.

The singer, who recently marked 20 years of turning professional artiste, died days after warning music promoters and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry not to include her in gossips and backbiting of other musicians.

The news of her passing was shared on Tuesday by fellow gospel artist, Esther Igbekele, who posted a tribute on social media with a picture of Aduke Gold with the caption, “A general has fallen. RIP.”

Aduke Gold’s death follows the recent loss of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who died on April 28, 2024.

Igbekele, who had also confirmed Egbin Orun’s death via her social media handle, wrote, “Despite the competitive nature of the gospel music industry, Aduke Gold made a significant impact with her soul-lifting songs and unwavering dedication to her craft.

“Her talent and passion earned her a growing fanbase and increasing popularity, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.”

Meanwhile, a a source closed to the singer has disclosed that the female artiste had been battling with an underlying ailment for two months.

The source added that the gospel singer died on Monday, August 12 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The source pointed to the post made by the deceased on July 28 where she prayed for better health for her fans, saying she was also praying for herself.
