The Nigerian Army has released a Delta monarch, Clement Ogenerukevwe, linked to the.murder of 17 soldiers in Okuama, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.
He was released weeks after presenting himself to the security agencies for questioning following the Army declaration that he and some other senior residents of the community orchestrated the ambush and murder of the soldiers.
The monarch was released on Friday by the Army after intervention from distinguish personalities across the Niger Delta region of the country.
Announcing the Army decision, it’s spokesman, Major-Gen
Onyema Nwachukwu, said although the army has not exonerated anybody regarding the incident, it decided to release the monarch after intervention of highly-placed personalities in the society and a painstaking review.
