Zamfara PDP chairman defects to APC after Gov. Lawal’s exit

The Zamfara State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jamilu Magayaki, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), following Governor Dauda Lawal’s exit from the opposition party to the ruling platform.

Magayaki confirmed his resignation from the PDP, explaining that the decision came after extensive consultations with political associates, supporters, and stakeholders across the state.

He said the shifting political dynamics in Zamfara made it necessary to reassess his political alignment and pursue what he described as a “new direction” for the state’s governance and leadership.

“After careful reflection and wide consultations with stakeholders, I have decided to resign my membership of the PDP and join the APC,” Magayaki said, noting that his decision was driven by the need to adapt to emerging political realities.

The former PDP chairman added that his move is intended to contribute to stability in the state’s political system and strengthen ongoing governance efforts.

He also expressed gratitude to PDP members and supporters who worked with him during his tenure, acknowledging their loyalty and contributions.

“I remain grateful to all party members and loyal supporters who stood by me during my time as chairman. Their dedication and commitment to the party will always be remembered,” he said.

Magayaki further assured APC leaders and members that he would work closely with them to advance the party’s objectives and support initiatives aimed at promoting development and political cohesion in Zamfara.
