Suspected bandits have attacked a farmer on his farmland in Kwara State, leaving him severely injured before he was rescued by local vigilantes.
The victim, identified simply as Abayomi, was reportedly tending his farm when the assailants struck, inflicting serious injuries on him during the attack.
The incident occurred on Friday morning in Koro community, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, when the attackers invaded the farmland and assaulted the farmer before fleeing the area.
Residents said the injured farmer was later rescued by members of a local vigilante group who swiftly mobilised after receiving distress calls and moved him to safety for medical treatment.
The attack has heightened fear among farmers in the area, particularly communities located near the Kwara–Kogi boundary, which has witnessed repeated security breaches in recent months.
Security agencies in the state are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, as investigations are expected to commence to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
