Uzor Arukwe threatens legal action over false affair rumour

By Helen Okoli.

Nollywood actor, Uzor Arukwe, has denied allegations of his involvement in the speculated marital troubles between his colleague, Oluwawunmi Adenibuyan, otherwise known as Bambam and her husband, Tope, popularly known as Teddy A.

Arukwe expressed displeasure over the accusations warning that he would pursue legal consequences against those spreading the rumour, adding that the perpetrators are carrying out to tarnish his reputation and professional integrity.

The controversy erupted after fans observed that Bambam and Teddy A unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking wild online speculation that the actress’s on-screen chemistry with Arukwe in their recent YouTube film *Love in Every Word* contributed to the supposed rift.

The statement made by @AHMGABRIEL1 on twitter stated, “Popular movie actress BamBam (achalugo) has been reportedly divorced by her husband after finding out his wife was pregnant for her colleague who played the role of her odogwu in their recent movie, he got to find out through her leaked private chat with him. Hmmm it’s sad to say women are never to be trust worthy.”

Arukwe addressed the issue directly on social media around yesterday, in Nigeria, identifying a specific account responsible for propagating the false narrative and emphasizing his refusal to engage it further to deny clout-chasers the attention they crave.

He stated: “A specific account has been identified for spreading false rumors and baseless accusations about me and my professional engagement with a colleague in the industry. I choose not to quote the account directly, as I refuse to give such accounts the engagement they seek at the risk of jail time.”

The actor further warned: “Believe me when I say this: that individual will be made a scapegoat, so others learn to respect boundaries and refrain from chasing clout and ‘Elon Musk money’ at the expense of damaging someone else’s reputation.”

The rumors gained traction following the release of *Love in Every Word*, where Arukwe and Bambam portrayed romantic leads, leading some netizens to baselessly connect their fictional roles to real-life drama despite no evidence of any personal affair.

Arukwe’s strong response highlights his determination to protect his image amid growing concerns over how unchecked gossip blogs and social media speculation can harm reputations in the entertainment industry, especially when tied to unrelated personal matters like a colleague’s relationship status.

This development follows similar patterns in Nollywood where actors face defamatory claims, prompting threats of defamation suits to deter future fabrications and restore accountability in online discourse.
