Ukraine and Saudi Arabia have signed a major defence cooperation agreement, laying the foundation for future contracts, technological collaboration, and joint investments in security capabilities.
The pact is expected to strengthen cooperation in airspace protection and air defence systems, with Ukraine set to share its extensive experience in countering drone and missile threats with Saudi Arabia.
The agreement was signed on Friday in Saudi Arabia during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit. It is aimed at enhancing bilateral security ties amid rising regional aerial threats and positioning Ukraine as a key security partner for Gulf nations.
President Zelensky confirmed the development ahead of his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, describing it as a significant step that reinforces Ukraine’s growing role in global security cooperation.
Both countries are seeking to deepen military-technical collaboration, with the deal expected to create opportunities for Ukrainian defence technologies to support Saudi Arabia’s air defence capabilities.
The development also reflects increasing interest among Gulf states in Ukraine’s combat-tested solutions against drone attacks, marking a notable step in Kyiv’s broader diplomatic push for defence partnerships.
