The Union of European Football Associations, UEFA, has slammed Real Madrid a fine of €15,000 over misconduct by is fans against Benfica fans.
UEFA issued the fine on Real Madrid expressing disatisfaction over it’s fan’s racist chants on Benfica fans during the second leg of the Champions League playoff encounter.
UEFA’s disciplinary board, on Friday, also disclosed that fans of the Spanish club performed a Nazi salute, also imposing a partial stadium closure of 500 seats at the Santiago Bernabéu, suspended for one year.
Real Madrid informed that it has ejected a supporter caught on camera performing a Nazi salute in the stands before the match began.
The first leg of the tie was marred by an incident of alleged racism aimed at Real winger Vinicius Junior by Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni, who has since denied it.
Madrid progressed from the playoff encounter following a 3-1 aggregate win and will face Premier League side, Manchester City, in the competition’s Round of 16.
