South African pop sensation Tyla has secured her second consecutive Grammy Award, winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

The 24-year-old artist triumphed with her hit single “Push 2 Start,” released in October 2024, defeating strong contenders including Burna Boy’s “Love,” Davido’s “With You” featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s “Gimme Dat,” and Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s “Hope & Love.”

The win was announced during the premiere ceremony segment of the event, held on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, as part of the Recording Academy’s efforts to recognize African musical excellence globally.

This victory makes Tyla the first artist to claim the category twice since its inception, following her groundbreaking 2024 win for “Water,” further cementing her status as a leading figure in bringing African sounds to international prominence.

Speaking at the Grammys, Tyla gave heartfelt tributes, “Like, first of all, shout out to all the guys, this is insane. Uh, like, first of all, shout out to all the young Africans out there. All the African creatives, shout out. This is crazy. I’m so excited to see more of us over here.”
