Former Super Eagles defender and captain, William Troost-Ekong, has joined Qatari base club, Al-Ahli.
Al-Ahli confirmed Troost-Ekong signed a permanent seal to join the club from Al-Kholood, stating that the defender deal will remain in existence till June 2028.
The club disclosed that a mutual agreement was reached between the duo as they look to build momentum to finish the season strongly, adding that the player’s contribution, through his ability and experience, will help on the team’s targets thus far in the season.
The new signee, who has been given his favourite jersey number 5, to complete the deal on Wednesday, expressed delight over the actualization of the transfer, saying that it is a new chapter in his career which he is looking forward to.
Troost-Ekong made 49 appearances scoring twice during his spell with Al Kholoon. His move to his current club makes it the 11th team he has signed for, making 300 appearances in all andĀ scoring seven goals.
The Dutch-born player had 82 appearances for the Super Eagles, scoring eight goals for the national side before retiring in year 2025.
