Tinubu confers GCON on Gilbert Chagoury

President Bola Tinubu has conferred Nigeria’s second-highest national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), on renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, Gilbert Chagoury, in recognition of his exceptional service and enduring contributions to national development.

He stated that the prestigious honour was awarded in appreciation of Chagoury’s exemplary virtues, unwavering commitment to the country’s progress, and decades of impactful involvement across key sectors of the Nigerian economy, where his investments and initiatives have continued to drive growth and development.

The conferment was made public on Monday through a congratulatory message and a copy of the Instrument of Conferment of National Honour certificate shared on social media by billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola.

In the message, Otedola congratulated Chagoury on the national recognition, describing it as a well-deserved honour that reflects his visionary leadership, remarkable achievements, and far-reaching philanthropic efforts.

He noted that Chagoury’s landmark projects and generosity have left a lasting legacy on communities and infrastructure across the country.
