Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have killed four worshippers inside a mosque in Dadinkowa, located in Maiyama Local Government Area.
According to residents, the attackers stormed the mosque during evening prayers and opened fire on congregants, killing four people on the spot.
Several others sustained gunshot injuries as the assailants reportedly fired indiscriminately before fleeing.
“They arrived heavily armed and walked straight into the mosque. Within moments, gunshots rang out and four worshippers were already lying motionless,” an eyewitness said.
Another eyewitness called the operation deliberate and calculated. “It was not random. They appeared to have studied the environment and targeted the worshippers deliberately,” the source told correspondents on Thursday.
Community members confirmed that the injured were evacuated to medical facilities for urgent treatment.
While some are responding to care, others remain in critical condition, raising concerns that the casualty toll could rise.
As of press time, no security agency has officially confirmed the number of casualties.
Community leaders have urged authorities to increase patrols and deploy additional personnel to prevent further attacks.
“Our people are living in fear,” a community elder said. “There must be immediate reinforcement to protect lives and places of worship.”
