Baba Muhammad, a young man residing in Uzum village in Bauchi State, has been reported to have killed his father, Siti, after striking him with a plank during a violent altercation over money.
The dispute, which allegedly began as a verbal exchange, escalated into physical violence, ultimately resulting in the death of the older man.
Sources disclosed that Muhammad repeatedly struck his father on the head with a plank, causing him to collapse during the incident which took place in Giade Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attack was both sudden and brutal. “It happened so quickly,” said a neighbour. “The old man collapsed immediately without uttering a word.”
The witness, speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that the victim was rushed to Giade General Hospital following the attack, but medical personnel confirmed he was already dead on arrival.
Confirming the incident, Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson Ahmed Mohammed stated that investigations have commenced to apprehend and prosecute the suspect.
“We received a distress call at about 10:30 p.m. indicating that a man had assaulted his father with a plank. Sadly, the father succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards,” he said.
The body of the deceased has been deposited in the hospital morgue, while police investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
