A road accident involving military personnel on routine patrol in Taraba State has left one soldier dead and several others injured.
The troops, members of a patrol unit operating from a Forward Operating Base, were involved in the crash on March 24 along the Kente–Ikyaior–Wukari road in Wukari Local Government Area while conducting routine operations.
A security source said the accident left multiple soldiers with varying injuries, prompting immediate evacuation for urgent medical care.
According to the source, the injured were transported to a medical facility, where doctors provided emergency treatment to stabilize them.
“Unfortunately, one of the soldiers later died from the injuries sustained, while three others remain under treatment,” the source told reporters on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari.
