Six students, driver die in Kogi auto crash

A devastating accident has left six students of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) and the driver dead in Kogi State the bus conveying the deceased and other colleagues collided with an articulated truck in Kogi State.

Eyewitnesses reported that the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. when the truck, carrying wood and jerrycans of palm oil lost control and crashed into the fully loaded university bus.

“The shuttle bus, which was about to transport students to school, was completely crushed by the truck,” a witness recounted.

Officials from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) responded promptly, rescuing some victims trapped beneath the wreckage bus yesterday.

However, the Kogi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Samuel Oyedeji, was unable to provide an official casualty count at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that the deceased had been taken to the morgue for identification, while the injured victims were rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, and Kogi State Specialist Hospital for medical attention.
