Seven construction workers, including two engineers employed by the Kwara State Ministry of Works, who were abducted from a state government road project, have been released after several weeks in captivity.
The workers were kidnapped on December 15, 2025, while carrying out construction work along the Sabaja–Owa-Onire Road in Isin Local Government Area of the state, sparking concern among residents and the families of the victims.
Their release was confirmed on Monday by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Olajide Abolarin, who said the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Abdulquawy Olododo, announced that the workers regained their freedom through coordinated efforts by the state government and security agencies.
Olododo described the development as a significant boost to public safety efforts in the state, praising Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as firm political will in tackling insecurity.
“We are grateful to His Excellency and to the security agencies. We also appreciate everyone who stood by us during these trying times,” the commissioner said.
