The authorities in Senegal have proposed a 10-year jail term against transgressors of same gender relationship and sexual abuse on children.
Senegal, on a five-year jail pronouncement against the law violation act, passed a bill to its National Assembly, stating that it is ready to double the imprisonment duration on erring individuals in its keen interest to curb occurence of same sex affair alongside a trample on the child right law.
The country’s Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, gave the information on Tuesday, stressing that the proposal became necessary due to multiple arrests of people who have indulged in both illicit acts including two celebrities and a well-known journalist.
”Anyone committing an act against nature will be punished by five to 10 years imprisonment compared with one to five years under the current law,” Sonko stated.
”If the act is committed with a minor, the maximum sentence will be imposed. Any sexual act between two people of the same sex constitutes an act against nature’
”The bill also provides three to seven years in prison for anyone who engages in advocacy for the prohibited acts,” he added.
