After weeks of back-and-forth, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, can now return to her legislative duties, as her previously sealed Senate office has been reopened.
Personnel from the National Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms, assisted by security agencies, reopened Office 205 in the Senate wing, which is assigned to the Kogi lawmaker.
The development on Tuesday follows a leadership decision to allow her back into her office after months of suspension and restricted access.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March over alleged misconduct after she protested the reassignment of her seat in the chamber.
The sanction barred her from accessing her office, receiving her salary, and participating in legislative activities.
Ahead of the Senate’s resumption of plenary on October 7, 2025, the Senate leadership resolved on Monday to lift the restrictions.
A motion is expected to be moved at plenary, likely by Minority Leader Abba Moro, to formally welcome her back, pending an official apology.
This move now paves the way for Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return to legislative functions, although full reinstatement may depend on her compliance with conditions set by the Senate.
