Saraki, three US, Chinese nationals, eight others become chiefs in Lagos

In recognition of their contributions to human and communities development, the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, has conferred chieftaincy titles on wife of Senate former President, Toyin Saraki, three foreign nationals and eight others for contributing to growth witnessed across the kingdom.
Also conferred with titles by the monarch, who has initiates several developmental programmes since assuming the throne of his forefathers, were founder of Choice International Group; Diana Chen, Managing Director of VAVA Group, Ambassador Michael Tawadrous; and his wife, Magy, the former Executive Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Mutiu Are, Cheif Adeyemi; Managing Director of Mego Foods and Beverages Nigeria Limited; Lateef Abisogun, Taiwo Olatunji, Muyibat Giwa and Kabiru Oniru.
At the event witnessed by former governors, including Gombe State ex-Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo; his Ogun and Kwara States counterparts, Otunba Olusegun Osoba and AbdulFatahi Ahmed, and other important dignitaries, Toyin Saraki, who was accompanied by her husband, Bukola, was conferred as the Erelu  Bobajiro or Iruland.

After conferring the titles, the monarch hinted that the kingdom would continuously recognize eminent diplomats, foreign and local investors, who have over the years positively contribute to growth of Iruland in spite of the economic situation across Nigeria.
Lawal, whose different programmes including “Let’s Grow Iruland Together, (LEGIT)”,   have started attracting investors, said that one of the objectives of his developmental agenda for Iruland was to ensure that the kingdom evolved into a sustainable city with a special breed of truly resilient people.
Explaining the idea behind LEGIT, the monarch stated that it was conceived and designed to change the narrative of the kingdom and that the vision was a clarion call to all and sundry to work with him in order to ensure Iruland grow into one of the most sustainable and desirable communities in Lagos.
Oniru said: “This is the beginning. We will strive to ensure that we collectively develop Iru Land. We have come up with a vision: Let’s Grow Iru Land Together which is LEGILT. I believe all my honourary chiefs will collectively support me to redevelop and regenerate Iru Crown Land. I know you are capable, you have the wherewithal; I know you can financially do that. Even your contacts alone should be able you do that.
“The essence of this programme is to honour you all and we are not going to stop at that. Whoever is deserving of any honour will be honoured. Iru Land is the financial capital of Lagos arguably. If Iru Land is the financial capital of Lagos and Lagos is the financial capital of Nigeria, then invariably, Iru is the financial capital of Nigeria,
“That is the premius and I want to assure the sons and daughters of Iru Land that I will continue to make myself accessible, I will continue to be humble and I will continue to advise so that collectively, we will get to that promise land,” he added.
Other dignitaries present at the colourful event were Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District and former governor of the State, Shaaba Lafiaji, former Minister of Youths and Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi; Emir of Ilorin, Sulu Gambari, who was represented by Prince Yusuf Gambari ; former Minister of Defence(State), Musiliu Obanikoro; former senator representing, Lagos West Senatorial District, Ganiyu Solomon, and others.
