Worried by the number of lives and property damaged after the gas explosion in Abule-Ado, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government in Lagos, the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has concluded plans to visit President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso rock over the issue.
The governor disclosed his planned visit after commiserating with families of the victims and accessed the level of damage done by the explosion.
In an interview with newsmen, Sanwo-Olu said he would be meeting with the President on Monday to brief him on the incident, stressing that Lagos required the cooperation and support of the Federal Government in dealing with the situation.
While described the level destruction in Abule Ado and Ado Soba as “monumental”, he added that the resources to be appropriated in helping the victims to rebuild their lives were beyond what a single Government could undertake on its own.
The Governor, meanwhile, ordered Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) to commence immediate clean-up of the explosion site.
