The Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, is doubtful for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa after sustaining injuries during the league game.
Nwabali was stretchered off in the 35th minute of Chippa United’s South African Premier Soccer League clash with Richards Bay.
The goalkeeper sustained an injury on Tuesday, a development that resulted in the team’s losing the game away.
The 29-year-old now faces a race against time to be fit for the games against the Amavubi and Bafana Bafana.
The shot-stopper was named in Nigeria’s 31-man provisional squad for the crucial qualifiers last week.
Adebayo Adeleye, Amas Obasogie, and Ebenezer Harcourt are the other goalkeepers included in the squad.
Nigeria will take on Rwanda and South Africa on September 6 and 10.
