Residents in a community in Niger State have been thrown into an unrest situation following a missile found in the area.
The villagers, who were on their daily activities in a bushy area found the drone, a Tomahawk warhead, sparking widespread curiosity and caution among the inhabitants who linked the harmful objects to the ones launched by the United State of America in the northern part of the country.
The residents were said to have reported the incident to the police who confirmed the missile, stating that investigations have begun concerning the occurrence which happened in the Zuguma community of Mashegun Local Government.
The Superintendent of Police, Wasiu Abiodun, said, ”On 5th January, 2026, at about 2pm, a report received from the area indicated that some locals in the community sighted an object suspected to be a missile in the bush.
”The police operatives at Ibbi Division made their way to the place and secured the missile,” Abiodun added.
The security agency relayed that further information over the incident will be passed in due course.
