Renowned evangelist, Uma Ukpai, dies @80

Renowned Nigerian cleric and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), Rev. Uma Ukpai, has passed away at the age of 80.

His passing was announced by his family, who described it as a “glorious transition” after a lifetime devoted to preaching the gospel and serving humanity.

According to the family, the late evangelist passed away on October 6, 2025, after decades of dedicated service to the Christian faith and humanitarian causes.

Born on January 7, 1945, in Asaga, Ohafia, Abia State, Rev. Ukpai was a pioneer of the Pentecostal movement in Nigeria and one of the founding members of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

Over more than six decades of ministry, Ukpai became widely known for his powerful crusades, teachings, and humanitarian initiatives that reached audiences across Nigeria and beyond.

His non-denominational ministry, headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, impacted countless lives through evangelism, mentorship, and community outreach.

Tributes have continued to pour in from Christian leaders and followers, who described him as a man of unwavering faith, humility, and national influence. Many hailed his life as one that embodied service, compassion, and commitment to spreading the gospel.

Rev. Uma Ukpai is survived by his wife, children, and a global network of spiritual protégés who have vowed to sustain his vision and legacy.
