The Spanish league defending champion, Real Madrid, has maintained lead on the 2020-21 La Liga table after defeating their major rival, Barcelona, during the first El-Classico of the season, three goals to one.
Madrid returned to winning ways at the Nou Camp after suffering first loss of the season at home to Cadiz last weekend defeating Barcelona to ensure it cement the grip on the table.
The result takes Real Madrid to the top of the fledgling La Liga table with 13 points from six games, six points above their opponent, Barcelona, who has been confirmed to the 10th spot on the table.
Following the defeat on Saturday, Barcalona was now without a win in three of the league matches and sit six points back in mid-table under the new coach, Ronald Koeman.
Five minutes after the match commenced, Federico Valverde smashed Santiago Bernabeu team into the lead from Karim Benzema’s pass, leaving Barcelona without any other option than to attack their opponent.
After the second half started, Sergio Ramos scored the second goal through a controversial penalty from the spot after he was fouled by Clement Lenglet and Luka Modric smashed in a late third, sealing the fate of Barcelona.
