Police warns against fake recruitment portal

The Police Service Commission has cautioned Nigerians about widespread fake recruitment notices circulating across social media platforms and unofficial websites, warning that the false information is being used to deceive unsuspecting citizens.

The Commission said the misleading posts were created by fraudsters seeking to exploit vulnerable members of the public who may be desperate to join the Nigeria Police Force.

It added that no recruitment exercise is underway and urged Nigerians to avoid engaging with any links shared outside verified channels.

The commission stressed that the deceptive portals have been designed to mimic official processes, heightening concerns about potential financial scams targeting those who fail to verify the authenticity of the notices.

In a statement signed on Monday by its Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Kalu, it Commission clarified that no portal for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force has been opened and that official announcements will be made only through trusted sources, including national newspapers and its verified website.

“When recruitment officially commences, it will be announced through official channels only. These include advertisements in reputable national newspapers, official announcements on the commission’s verified website (www.psc.gov.ng), and official press releases from the commission,” the statement read.

The Commission further advised applicants to rely solely on confirmed press releases and verified institutional communication channels, noting that adherence to these guidelines remains crucial to preventing avoidable losses to impersonators posing as recruitment facilitators.
