Police shot dead suspected armed robber, recover arm in Delta

The Delta Police Command has confirmed the killing of a suspected armed robber during an attack on passers-by on Old Ekete Road in the Udu Local Government Area in Delta State.

As stated, the officer of the Ovwian / Aladja divisional headquarters shot dead the armed robbery suspects while two other robbers escaped in an exchange of gunfire.

The state police command led by CP Muhammed Ali, who confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said the a gang of suspected armed robbers numbering about three, with dangerous weapons stormed the​ area with intent to rob them of the passers-by of their valuables when police stormed the scene.

The commissioner of police added that a locally made pistol and two cartridges  was recovered from the deceased suspect and suspects.

Ali said: “Upon sighting the police patrol vehicle, the suspect and others engaged the police in an exchange of gunfire.

“Efforts to arrest the fleeing gang members are ongoing.”

The commissioner of police commended the officers and men of the command, tactical commands, DPOs for their bravery in the fight against crime.

CP Ali mandated officers not to only maintain this tempo but to also ensure that it is sustained so that criminals will know that Delta State is not safe for them while also appreciating members of the public who has been in one way or the other helpful to the police by providing timely and useful information,

He asked the public to continue to volunteer intelligence, assuring that their identities will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
