The Borno State Police Command has restricted the movement of tricycles (Keke Napep) from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Eid-el-Fitr to enhance security coordination, control crowds, and prevent potential threats during the festive celebrations.
The directive is part of a broader security plan aimed at ensuring a peaceful and safe Eid across the state.
According to a statement released by the Borno Police command on Thursday, worshippers have been advised to attend prayers at grounds nearest to their residences to minimise movement and avoid overcrowding.
Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, said, “We have deployed personnel at prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, and other strategic locations to ensure effective crowd control and maintain law and order.”
He added that officers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit would conduct thorough screenings at major gathering points as a precautionary measure.
The Command emphasised that Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and intelligence operatives will intensify visibility policing, patrols, and intelligence-led operations throughout the festive period.
Furthermore, residents are urged to remain vigilant, celebrate responsibly, and report any suspicious activities immediately.
Parents and guardians are also reminded to closely monitor their children, especially in crowded areas, to ensure their safety.
The police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property before, during, and after the festivities.
Emergency contact numbers have been provided for public assistance: 0806 807 5581 and 0802 347 3293.
