The Plateau Police Command has arrested a a yet-to-be-identified young man that strapped on himself Person Borne Improvised Explosive Device (SPBIED) inside a bank in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
As gathered, the suspected suicide bomber was apprehended after the explosives were found on him in Dadin Kowa town axis of the state.
It was learnt on Tuesday that the private security at the bank prevented the attack when they spotted the suspect with explosives.
A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended by the security guards yesterday minutes after the banks opened for financial transactions.
Makama noted that the man planned to detonate the explosives at the bank but was spotted by a vigilante operative who raised the alarm.
He added that the alarm aided the suspect’s arrest and attracted angry mob to the scene, insisting he should be killed.
Makama could not confirm if the suspect is connected to the fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
According to him, the suspect is in the custody of the police and currently undergoing investigation.
