Police nabs 21yrs old woman for supplying Katsina bandits ammunition

The Nasarawa Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old woman, Fatima Salisu, on suspicion of being involved in arms trafficking, following actionable intelligence received by the command.

Fatima was apprehended for transporting ammunition through the Keana and Doma axis of the state to criminal groups operating in Katsina, where she reportedly resides.

The suspect arrest was disclosed to newsmen on Thursday through a statement released by the Nasarawa command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel.

According to Nansel, upon receiving actionable intelligence on the suspect and the arms, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, immediately directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take action.

He added that the law enforcement officers, who were acting on the tip-off, swiftly executed the operation, resulting in the suspect’s arrest and the seizure of 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.

The suspect is currently being interrogated to obtain other information to uncover the full extent of the arms trafficking network and its potential connections to banditry and terrorism.

Nansel described the arrest as a significant success in the ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms trade and reduce criminal activities in the region.
