The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious suspect over alleged criminal activities which has caused unrest at communities in Kano State.
The police arrested the suspect, Auwalu Ali, who was said to be a gang leader, during a successful enforcement in the state over cases of armed robbery, street violence, all reported to have caused unrest in the area.
The security agency disclosed that Ali contravened the state’s enshrined laws and had been on the radar of law enforcement agencies due to his alleged role in coordinating criminal gangs responsible for night-time attacks and thefts against residents.
According to reports, the 26-year-old was believed to be a central figure in multiple thuggery networks, allegedly mobilising youths, assigning roles, and directing coordinated assaults that left many victims traumatised and properties lost and was arrested in Dorayi.
The police further explained that his arrest, which was after tacking him for several weeks, was the outcome of sustained intelligence-led surveillance aimed at dismantling organised street crime.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, said that Ali’s arrest reflects the Command’s commitment on protecting lives and property and also to send a strong message against criminalty in the area.
Bakori acknowledged the role of community members in providing useful intelligence, stressing that cooperation between residents and security agencies remains vital to breaking criminal networks.
The Kano State Police Command has therefore urged residents across the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station or through approved emergency channels.
