The Nasarawa State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled hideouts belonging to suspected kidnappers in Angara and Fadaman Bauna communities within the Lafia East Development Area, leading to the arrest of six suspects and the rescue of three abducted persons.
The operation was executed by officers from the Assakio Police Division, working in synergy with local vigilante groups.
During the raid, two women and a man were rescued unharmed and subsequently reunited with their families.
According to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, the successful operation followed a report lodged on January 7, 2026, indicating that armed criminals had stormed Angara village, abducted two women, and fled the scene while leaving behind an infant.
The spokesperson further revealed that the same group later abducted a male resident of the community.
Acting on the report, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered an immediate manhunt for the suspects. This directive culminated in the raid of the criminals’ hideouts and the arrest of the six suspects.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crimes and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime across the state, assuring residents that sustained efforts would continue to rid Nasarawa State of all forms of criminal activity.
“We are intensifying pressure on criminal groups wherever they operate. Public safety remains our top priority,” the command added.
