Police arrests serial motorcycle snatcher in Yobe

The Police have arrested a suspect, Lukman Inusa, over allegation of stealing motorcycles in Yobe.

Inusa was nabbed after intelligence-led efforts by the state’s police Command which led to a burst-up of a criminal network which carried out multiple theft operations which the suspect was involved in.

Police authorities held that the 27-year-old accused, who also indulged in burglary, led investigators to the recovery of several stolen motorcycles during preliminary investigation.

The security agency added that Inusa’s arrest in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State followed coordinated security operations that tracked him after investigators gathered actionable intelligence linking him to repeated motorcycle theft incidents.

Police spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday, stating that the alleged offender later admitted involvement in several criminal activities during interrogation.

“The suspect was arrested on March 3, 202,6 at about 1100 hours after a well-coordinated operation by police operatives,” Abdulkarim said.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and led investigators to the recovery of five motorcycles out of about ten he allegedly stole since the beginning of his criminal activities,” he said.

Moreover, Abdulkarim noted that the recovered motorcycles have been secured by the police while efforts are underway to trace their legitimate owners.

According to him, investigators are also working to recover additional stolen motorcycles and apprehend other members believed to be part of the syndicate.

The police further reiterated their determination to dismantle criminal networks and warned individuals involved in similar offences to desist or face the full weight of the law.
