The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 28-year-old man, Baffaji Abba, over allegations of rape on his eight-year-old biological daughter.
The Command held that following a report of the incident, it’s operatives visited the scene and wedged Abba, after which he confessed to the crime.
According to the police, Abba lured the victim into a bathroom and reportedly forced her to engage in sexual acts, including both anal and vaginal penetration which happened multiple times in a single day.
The detectives, led by the Division Police Officer in Alkaleri, Kadiri Danjuma, moved the child to General Hospital Alkaleri for urgent medical attention, and arrested the suspect.
The incident was said to have occurred on 30 December 2025, and the report was formally lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Alkaleri the next day.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Bauchi, Nafiu Habib, on Thursday, said that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed for a a discreet investigation to gather evidence and ensure diligent prosecution.
Habib confirmed that Abba will be profiled and charged in court for the offences established against him.
Meanwhile, one Wisdom Onyealu is also facing charges of defilement on a 15-year-old in Imo State.
Onyeaju, a 24-year-old man, had been held for prosecution by the Imo State Police Command, as well as a police ehi is under investigation of misconduct in handling the case.
“The command is committed to pursuing justice in this case and protecting vulnerable children across the state,” Habib said.
The police emphasised that offenders will be held accountable and reiterated their dedication to safeguarding children, ensuring justice, and maintaining public confidence in law enforcement.
