The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers as part of a renewed effort to dismantle criminal networks and enhance security across the state.
The suspects, Abubakar Sindiku, 25, and Oliver Okoh, 35, were apprehended in connection with an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping case in Ondo State.
According to the police, the arrests followed coordinated intelligence and surveillance operations aimed at tracking individuals linked to the criminal network.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are members of a kidnapping syndicate operating in the area. They allegedly used motorcycles to conduct reconnaissance missions, monitor potential targets, and provide logistical support to other members of the group.
The Command noted that this support reportedly included the delivery of food supplies and other operational materials necessary for carrying out their activities. Security operatives recovered the motorcycles and other tools believed to have facilitated the suspects’ criminal operations.
In a statement on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and ensure all individuals involved are brought to justice.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police for Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, praised the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his leadership and strategic policing reforms, which have strengthened intelligence-sharing, operational coordination, and efficiency across police formations nationwide.
The Commissioner reassured residents that the Command remains committed to leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout Ondo State. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible, and actionable information to security agencies, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital to sustaining peace and security.
