The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a landlord, Akong Henry, for allegedly assaulting his tenant during a domestic dispute in the state.

The incident, which occurred on Hospital Road on March 31, 2026, was reported to the police at about 6:45 p.m. by the victim, identified as Rachael, 31.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, the suspect allegedly attacked the woman following a misunderstanding.

Preliminary findings indicate that the landlord reportedly armed himself with a sharp object during the altercation and inflicted injuries on the victim’s head and left arm, leading to significant blood loss.

Police operatives were said to have responded swiftly after receiving the report, evacuating the victim to a medical facility where she is currently receiving treatment.

“The suspect was promptly arrested, and a thorough investigation into the incident has commenced,” the statement added.

The police command condemned the act, warning against all forms of violence, particularly those capable of causing grievous bodily harm.

It urged residents to adopt peaceful means of resolving disputes and to report grievances to appropriate authorities rather than resorting to violence.

The command also reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, calling on members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
