Police operatives have dismantled a robbery network after apprehending 14 suspects accused of coordinating violent street attacks and robbing residents of their possessions.
The suspects were tracked through actionable intelligence and taken into custody following a carefully coordinated operation that disrupted what investigators described as an organised pattern of assaults and theft targeting residents.
The arrests were carried out during a security sweep across several flashpoints within Bauchi metropolis, including Bakaro, Kofar Dumi, Tudun Yarima, and Kofar Madaki, after officers received credible information about the groupās movements.
According to a statement issued on Monday, the operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer of āAā Division, CSP Hassan Musa, who mobilised patrol teams to intercept the suspects while they were allegedly preparing to strike.
āOur officers moved swiftly and professionally to prevent further harm to members of the public,ā the statement said.
It further revealed that during questioning, the suspects reportedly admitted to acting as a gang, arming themselves with machetes and knives before launching attacks on unsuspecting victims. Police investigators said the group targeted phones, cash, and other valuables, while inflicting injuries on anyone who resisted.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, said the command would not relent in confronting violent crime. He commended residents for their cooperation, noting that timely information from the public played a decisive role in the arrests.

Meanwhile, police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of necessary procedures.
