The Oyo Police Command has arraigned 40-year-old manure dealer, Abubakar Hashim, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan following allegations of N1.2M fraud.
The defendant faced charges of stealing and obtaining goods under false pretences after defrauding Bunmi Ayanwale of 550 bags of manure.
During the presided over by Magistrate M.A. Atanda on Friday, the Prosecutor Insp Kemi Oladapo told the court that Hashim committed the offences in July 2022 at the Akinyele area of Ibadan, where he promised to pay for the goods but failed to do so.
After the charges were read to Hashim, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, which the prosecutor stated argued that itcontravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
After the defendant made his plead, Atanda admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case to March 18, 2025, for continuation of trial.
