The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party’s decision to leave its 2027 presidential ticket open to all regions, describing it as a clear sign of internal confusion and weakness.
According to the APC chapter, this move exposes the PDP’s ongoing struggles with indecision and internal divisions, highlighting the party’s inability to present a united front ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 election.
The party added that this lack of clear direction undermines the PDP’s credibility and raises serious doubts about its readiness to govern.
In a statement issued by Lagos APC spokesman Seye Oladejo, the PDP was accused of being torn apart by power struggles, ethnic suspicions, and a failure to learn from past mistakes.
The APC further described the opposition as a political gambling house, where every desperate politician is invited to try his luck.
It said, “This announcement is nothing but the loud cry of a confused party still struggling to find its feet after being roundly rejected by Nigerians in 2015, 2019, and 2023. One wonders if the PDP even remembers where it kept its compass – because for a supposed major party to be so directionless and indecisive on such a basic matter confirms its reputation as a house divided against itself.
“It is also quite telling that the PDP conveniently forgot the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution when it initially zoned out other parts of the country from the presidency, only to hurriedly cave in under pressure from vested interests and desperate aspirants. What kind of clownish political gang behaves this way and still expects to be taken seriously by Nigerians?
“Worse still, the PDP ticket has now degenerated into a political bazaar that can go to anyone with enough desperation or bargaining power. This is not democracy; it is a clearance sale of the party’s last remaining relevance.
“The truth is simple: the larger-than-life image of the ruling APC, under the tested leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has so overwhelmed the PDP that it no longer knows whether to go left, right, or in circles. Nigerians who are daily witnessing APC’s reform agenda and delivery of democratic dividends have no patience for a party still trying to decide what it wants to be when it grows up.
“This so-called “open ticket” is not a sign of inclusion; it is a confession of weakness. It exposes a party torn apart by power tussles, ethnic suspicions, and a chronic inability to learn from its own failures.
“Nigerians will not be fooled by these theatrics. They saw how the PDP bungled its zoning formula in 2023, sparking defections, rancor, and disgrace at the polls. Once again, the party has chosen to throw confusion at the nation instead of presenting a coherent vision.
“While the PDP staggers like a drunk searching for direction, the APC remains solidly focused on governance, stability, and reforms that will secure the future of our great nation. For the opposition, the 2027 presidential election is already lost – not at the ballot box, but in the circus tent they call their party.
