PDP rejects members’ appeal for Convention date shift

By Monsurudeen Olowoopejo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected appeals from members that the Convention earlier scheduled for October 30th be shifted to a later date, saying the date will not be changed.

PDP said that rather than members requesting an adjustment in the date, they should work with various committees towards organising a smooth process that would usher in new leadership for the party.

The Adamawa State Governor and the party’s National Convention Organising Committee chairman, Umaru Fintiri, who spoke on Saturday in Abuja, said that the work is enormous and needed to put members up to speed to ensure an acceptable and credible convention.

Fintiri hinted that the sale of forms would commence from Monday, while screening would end by next week to allow those seeking elective offices to campaign

The Convention Organising Chairman informed the meeting that accreditation will be done at the old parade ground before conveying delegates to the Eagle Square Convention ground for the process proper.

Earlier, The Deputy Chairman of the Organising Committee and Bayelsa state governor, Douye Diri, and the Secretary, Oyo state governorment Seyi Makinde were in attendance at the Wadata Plaza PDP secretariat.
