The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a caretaker committee as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its structure and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The newly inaugurated committee will oversee the party’s affairs until the conduct of its state congresses, which are expected to take place in the coming months.
According to the party, this decision reflects its resolve to enhance internal cohesion and ensure uninterrupted administration, while safeguarding adherence to constitutional provisions governing party management at the state level.
The approval was conveyed by the party’s National Working Committee through a public notice issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, and shared on the PDP’s official X handle on Monday.
Ememobong said the caretaker committee would be led by Hassan Daudawa as chairman, alongside Shehu Fulani, Rabiu Bakura, Musa Mallaha, Sani Kaura, and Hauwa Makkah as members, with Muhammad Danbuba appointed as secretary.
Explaining the committee’s mandate, the party spokesman said it is empowered to oversee all party affairs in Adamawa in line with Section 21(2)(a–b) of the PDP constitution.
“The committee is expected to manage the party’s activities responsibly and in strict compliance with laid-down rules,” he said.
Furthermore, the PDP clarified that the caretaker committee will operate for a period not exceeding 90 days or until a duly elected state executive committee emerges, whichever comes first.
The NWC also appealed to party members in Adamawa to cooperate fully with the interim leadership.
According to Ememobong, such support is essential “to guarantee stability, unity, and effective administration during the transition period.”
