Pandemonium as pipeline explosion rocks Lagos community

There was pandemonium in Isheri-Olofin axis 9f Alimosho Local Government when residents woke up with the sound of heavy explosion and heavy fires in the early hours of Thursday.

It was learned that the pipeline damaged by vandals at the early hours of the day was located within Gloryland Estate, Isheri-Olofin axis.

The Guild gathered that residents flee the community when they discovered that the entire community had been enveloped by thick smoke oozing out from the explosion scene.

Though no one could ascertain the number of casualties, but some residents narrated that about two persons died and several others injured.

Our correspondent learned that those injured sustained the injuries while fleeing the community to prevent been caught in the explosion that rocked the community.

Confirming the explosion, Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, disclosed that emergency responders have been deployed to the scene.

In a statement sent to the Guild, Oke-Osanyintolu said: “There is an outbreak of fire at the back Diamond Estate along Isheri/Lasu -Igando Road. I suspect that the fire must have been caused by pipeline vandalization. I have activated the Lagos State Response Plan. All key Stakeholders have moved to the scene”.
