The Federal Government has debunked claims that the intake of palm oil is a cure for the deadly coronavirus pandemic ravaging the nation, saying that such assertions are untrue and should be disregarded by Nigerians.
It said that though viral claims had surfaced on various social media platforms, alleging that drinking the red cooking oil would heal coronavirus patients, there was as yet no clinical research to support such submissions.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) refuted the claim through a post on its official social media page and urged the people to refrain from spreading such potentially harmful information.
The center urged Nigerians to disregard the allegations and to protect themselves through continued observation of medically advised coronavirus preventive measures such as regular hand washing and social distancing among others.
“The claim that drinking palm oil can stop the spread of Covid-19 is FALSE To protect yourselves and loved ones from Covid-19 please adhere to guidance from public health authorities and avoid the spread of false information
